On the Dementia Training Study Centres in Australia

I attended an excellent seminar on design for people with dementia who may be needing acute and subacute care. The training was held by the DTSC – see http://www.dtsc.com.au/ . Professor Richard Fleming, and Kirsty Bennett provided a stimulating two day program covering topics such as principles relating to good design, the use of lighting and colour, the range of specific audit tools that suit hospitals, and current evidence based research. The seminar was free and funded by the Federal Government to stimulate ideas and discussion, as there has been a lack of work done in Australia on good design for medical settings. Do have a look at the website and consider subscribing to the Australian Journal of Dementia Care.
