On Amendments to AS 1428.1 – 2009
The amendments to AS 1428.1 – 2009 were posted on the SAI Global website late last year. They provide an update to a range of clauses and diagrams. While I now refer to this standard, I continue to use some of the information from AS 1428.1 – 2001 where I see it better suits clients and general home modification design. This includes, for example, the clause in AS 1428.1 – 2001 relating to falls in shower floors. I have been advised that the falls in the 2001 standard are easier to achieve by builders, compared to the requirements in the 2009 standard. I also change the layout of the taps and soap holder in the shower design to have an arrangement that is the reverse of those described in the 2009 for ease of reach and use for some clients who need a different layout….I am wondering if anyone else has picked up on any improvements that could be made to the 2009 standard when used as a reference in home modification work (or for public building work)?
